The "gcloud container images describe" command is used to get the SHA256 hash of an image in the staging registry. The SHA256 hash is required for the image promotion process. https://github.com/kubernetes/k8s.io/tree/master/k8s.gcr.io#image-promoter

Release process
Semi-automatic
- Make sure your repo is clean by git's standards
- Tag the repository and push the tag
VERSION=v0.10.0 git tag -m $VERSION $VERSION; git push origin $VERSION - Publish a draft release using the tag you just created
- Perform the image promotion process
- Publish release
- Email
kubernetes-sig-scheduling@googlegroups.comto announce the release
